SEVEN AUSTRALIAN EQUITY CROWDFUNDING PLATFORMS HAVE RECEIVED AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL SERVICES LICENCES FOR CROWD-SOURCED EQUITY FUNDING SERVICES.

11 January 2018 the Australian Securities and Investments Commission has issued the first batch of crowdfunding intermediary licences to seven platforms: Big Start, Billfolda, Birchal Financial Services, Equitise, Global Funding Partners, IQX Investment Services and On-Market Bookbuilds.

Following commencement of the Government's equity crowdfunding framework in September 2017,it was necessary to issue licences in order to fundraise under this new regime.
Marked as a milestone for crowdfunding in Australia, the seven suitable intermediaries are now able to help small and innovative companies to raise funds from a crowd of investors.
Kelly O'dwyer and the government were aware of the importance of regulate crowdfunding to help flourish new innovative businesses, which is good for employment and good for consumers.

Indeed, crowdfunding participate to greater growth of economy by enabling Australian entrepreneurs to obtain the capital they need to turn good ideas into commercial successes.
This framework has removed regulatory barriers and eligible public companies will be able to raise up to $5 million in funds through equity crowdfunding, with retail investors able to invest up to $10,000 per issuing company per year.
In the early growth stage, intermediaries have an important role to accompany both innovators and investors in order to create opportunities of evolution for small businesses.

Through this new source of funding, there is not only a new way for developing companies, there exists jobs creation and innovations.
